Recently, China medical instrument industry has developed well. But as the larger nation having more than 1.3 billion population, economic level of China various regions, population structure and medical conditions have a larger differences and so there are more challenge coming. Annual report of 2011 China medical industry has published in 66^th CMEF in FuZhou. The report has pointed out that China medical instrument industry development faces seven driving factors and three restricting factors. Medical imaging, medical information, vitro diagnostic and high value consumables are the fields which deserved to medical device industry investors paying close attention to.

Seven driving factors

The report was finished for more than half a year by government and Frost&Sullivan.

First, Country “1025” plan encourages social capital enter into medical services

Second, new medical reform plan will cancel the commission of

hospital drugs and medical service charge will be the main source of hospital income. In addition, hospitals will increase the investment of medical equipment.

Third, according to country “1025”, new additional medical and health resources will turn to the rural and urban communities and this make low end medical equipment market demand expand, such as common medical-x-ray machine, B ultrasound and Medical Ventilator, this is helpful for domestic enterprise.

Four driving factors

First, Some domestic high-quality medical instrument enterprises have entered into market gradually and it not only regulates the operations of the enterprise but also it can promote new products development and the establishment of the overseas market by financing

Second, China medical devices market scale has accounted for 14% of Chinese medicine market, but Global medical equipment market has accounted for 42% of total scale of medicine market. This means that China medical equipment market has a larger development space

Third, Chinas urbanization process and aging population have increased and residents self-health care consciousness enhanced and this increase the demand of public medical health service.

Three restricting factors

There are three factors restricting China medical equipment industry development in the next five years.

First, Domestic medical instrument enterprises don’t invest enough capital on technology, innovation ability is weak and products are mainly low value-added and high end products mainly rely on import.

Second, China current medical instrument manufacturing enterprises have fourteen thousands, but most enterprise scale is small.

Third, the hospital circulation channel is lack of transparency and the degree of marketization is not high, therefore enterprises have spent more attention to establish relationship with hospitals and not improve the product quality and performance, this will affect the healthy development of the whole industry.

So be basic of before reasons, the report said “in next five years, China county hospital will need a larger medical imaging equipment, test equipment and informatization equipment.
